At a time when writers, artists and advocates in Australia and around the world are being silenced for speaking out against oppression, PEN Melbourne is committed to the guiding principle that literature knows no frontiers.
Readings Carlton keeping words freeAlso in February 2026 I joined the Bankstown Poetry Grand Slam at the Sydney Opera House. This event featured a stellar lineup of artists including bestselling author Maxine Beneba Clarke; rapper and drummer DOBBY; writer and performer Aranzta Garcia; writer, editor and educator Hasib Hourani; poet and essayist Jeanine Leane; spoken word artist and recording performer Luka Lesson; and author, rapper and visual artist Omar Musa.
